I’m always looking for ways to use up the veggies that are in the fridge and this recipe is idea. Most children love sausage rolls – I say most because while my youngest will eat them, he doesn’t love them. These sausage rolls are full of good veggies and are perfect for lunch, dinner, snacks and parties. Continue reading

Top 5 healthy snacks for school lunchbox
And just like that term 2 has started for us here in New South Wales. Blue skies are scheduled and dare I say it but the two weeks of school holidays hasn’t been too bad. Maybe it’s because we got out of Sydney for a mini-break or maybe it’s because I worked through some of it. Either way, we’re all ready for this term to kick into gear. Continue reading
The 10 day alkaline cleanse
So last week I completed my 10 day alkaline diet and cleanse which I was hoping would remove any build-up of acid in the body and give me some energy that I was desperately seeking. But before I delve into what I thought, let’s look at what an alkaline diet is. Continue reading
Healthy treats ideal for you
How’s the weather in your homeland? As we say goodbye to winter in the southern hemisphere and hello to autumn in the northern hemisphere, we are dragging our feet towards the end of term 3 of school (3 weeks and three days – yes I’m counting!!) and the new school year is just starting for our friends in the north. So I thought it was timely to post some (almost) healthy snack recipes that I’ve been using for school snacks and also as part of morning/afternoon tea. Share your snack recipes with me! Mini quiche boats
It’s been a little while since I’ve posted a recipe. And today I’ve got a good one! My kids love quiche but it can get a little boring so to mix it up I’ve hopped on the band wagon and tried them in the ‘stand and stuff’ tortilla soft shells. They’ve been a big hit mainly due to the novelty of the ‘boats’. Continue reading
Lunch that’s not a sandwich
I’m a lover of bread. I’m a lover of pasta. And I mean I’m a lover! Lately though I’ve tried to cut back on my loves and just change my diet slightly – cut out wheat and try add more healthy but enjoyable food. I was feeling sluggish with not enough energy to keep running a household, a job that I enjoy and two active kids. For me it was either all or nothing so I went cold turkey and cut it out of my diet completely. Not the right decision… Continue reading
Weetbix slice
While I’ve managed to mix up the humble Vegemite sandwich to a Vegemite wrap or a Vegemite croissant for school lunches, I wanted to come up with something new for snacks. The weetbix slice has cropped up in the many lunch box posts that I’ve seen so I thought I’d give it a go over the weekend. Continue reading
Let’s get to it – school snack ideas!
Well that came around fast! Six weeks of school holidays and now school is back in less than a week. It’s time to get my bake on and start storing school lunches and snacks. In between work, family life, kid’s activities and everything else in between, I find if I bulk bake and store items then I don’t feel stressed when it comes to packing lunches. I tend to do this on the weekend prior to school starting so there’s room in the freezer! Continue reading
Little slices of sweetness
Over the holiday season I was mulling through some recipes and websites and came across this one – garlic roasted sweet potatoes from Eat Drink Paleo. I love sweet potato but always seem to forget it’s sitting in the fridge drawer until it’s too late – soft, wrinkly uncooked sweet potato is not a nice thing to look at. Continue reading
Review: SodaStream Power
Party season begins in November for us. The amount of birthday parties and social gatherings increase dramatically. And with summer, and the heat, around the corner it’s time to come up with thirst quenching ideas without the hit of sugary drinks. Continue reading
