What is that thing called ‘work-life balance’?

The first time I seriously focused on work-life balance was when I returned to work after my first-born, like so many other parents. Seven years and another child later, I’m still chasing it. Don’t get me wrong – on some days I nail it and I’m beaming like the child whose just got the last treat. There are such things as ‘I suck’ days.

Have you ever had an “I suck” day? I have on many occasions. Just recently actually. I felt unorganised, there was so much happening (and it’s only April!), the kids were whingey about one thing or another, I hadn’t been able to exercise, the house felt like a pig-sty and I was just totally over all of it! I ranted and grunted as I moved through the house. My shoulders were hunched. I walked around with a face that would make a priest back off. I was fed up. Continue reading

Long weekend-ing (last one for the year!)

I’ve just realised it’s been a while since I last posted here! Life has been quite busy and time just seems to be slipping away. Anyhow, we’ve just had the last long weekend for the year here in Sydney and it heralds the start of the warm season. We escaped Sydney and headed to Windang which is on the New South Wales south coast – beautiful part of the country with stunning beach line and amazing markets to stop and have a wander around.
