Review: JORD Watch – Dark Sandalwood

I was contacted recently to see if I would like to do a review on a JORD watch from the women’s watch range. I’ll be honest and say I hadn’t heard of the brand so I did a quick search on the product and company. I was impressed with the range they had to offer and of the honest reviews provided by everyday people. The watches appeared stylish, modern and unique. Plus, it was an item for me – not for the kids or hubby like it usually is! After looking at the range available for review I chose the Dark Sandalwood from the FieldCrest Series. I liked the dark wood and chunky look.

When the postman arrived (with a parcel for me!) I was a little apprehensive as to how the watch would actually look and feel in real life. I was expecting it to be heavy. It wasn’t. I was expecting it to look a little cheap. It didn’t. The packaging was gorgeous – a lovely wooden box and a box cushion that the wrist watch sat around. I was immediately impressed.

When I took it out of the box it did feel lightweight and I wondered how it would go on the wrist. I already have a watch which is a beautiful gift from work for 10 years of service (I kept it in a box for nearly 12 months as it was too ‘precious’ to wear before deciding to wear it!). It felt a little weird switching over as my own watch is silver and slimline, and this one was wood and chunky. However, as soon as I put it on my wrist I was in love, and that’s not an exaggeration.

The clasp is easy to open and close. The watch face is large and noticeable. The wood grain that comes through on the face of the watch is an added bonus. The watch looks good on. It felt good. I was complemented on it by quite a few people as it’s a striking watch (I was initially stuck for words because, as a parent, I’m not complemented on much that relates to me!!).

It became a watch I wore daily. I could dress it up or dress it down. For example I wore it to work, out on errands, out with the kids, when we went on our road trip to the snow, out for my birthday dinner (when I dressed up in fancy clothes, whoohoo!!), when cooking, and when going for a run. It holds up extremely well. I did take it off when near water or having a shower, for those who are wondering!

The prices of the watches are not cheap. And as a parent I would question spending this amount of money on myself. HOWEVER – after receiving and wearing the watch daily, it is money that I could justify for a special piece of jewellery. It could also be something you receive as a unique gift for a birthday or Mother’s Day or Christmas (just a few hints…).

Overall, I’m very impressed with this particular watch. The quality, the workmanship and the feel of a beautiful piece of jewellery that makes it special but also for every day wear.

Check out the range at JORD.
